Contextual Statement
My Public Relations Portfolio was the final capstone in my News and Media Writing course. It is intended to be shared with potential employers. The portfolio includes information about my professional aspirations, qualifications, featured PR writing samples, and a blog. It showcases work from my sophomore and junior PR courses, and I continuously update the content to share current accomplishments and experiences. I use this artifact as a representation of my personal and professional brand. It lives on my LinkedIn profile as a featured academic project.
This professional portfolio reveals my hard skills that transfer to PR internships and entry-level positions. It demonstrates my understanding and proficiency in news media writing style. I include properly formatted and structured PR materials that successfully apply AP style guidelines. This is an important aspect of the portfolio because it proves to employers that I can effectively write and create content relevant to the PR field. The portfolio also shows I know how to create a cohesive professional image. I achieved this by presenting a well-designed and organized website to highlight my professional experiences and knowledge. The colors, page topics, and structure inform employers about how I present myself as a professional. It shows unique attention to detail and creativity, which are key to my professional abilities. This artifact communicates my strong foundational writing, organizational, and communication skills that make me qualified to manage versatile PR work in my future career.
